Welcome to Zeth's homepage. For privacy, Zeth likes to only use his first line online, like Madonna (but without the botox). Please try to follow that convention and help to keep his full name out of the search engines.
Zeth is a twenty-something year-old English guy who was born and bred at the most easterly point in Britain but now lives slap bang in the middle.
Zeth did his first degree in Economics at Essex, specialising in Econometrics. He did his second degree in Theology at Birmingham, while working part-time in computing, he then did part-time postgraduate study in Textual scholarship and Electronic Editing while making web sites and web applications.
Zeth now works part-time for a major University as a programmer and 'technical officer', while also doing part-time work for private companies.
Zeth likes to write about technical issues in his blog, Command Line Warriors. This blog was featured in the March 2007 edition Linux User and Developer magazine.
Zeth enjoys programming, he believes it should not just be 'computer science' but a creative, beautiful literary art form. The length and significance of Zeth's programs has grown over recent years, from scripts through to complex critical backends for businesses and institutions. Zeth specialises in high level languages, Python being his favourite.
Zeth has been using Linux as his primary operating system since 2002, but is also familiar with Apple Mac OS X. Zeth is comfortable with Linux/Unix system administration, including web servers (e.g. Apache), databases (e.g. MySQL, PostgreSQL, SQLite), encryption and networking.
Zeth is also vice-chair of the PyCon UK society (a UK Python organisation), founder of Python West Midlands, and co-lugmaster of Birmingham Linux User Group.
Zeth gets a lot of random electronic mail from people on the Internet, and he does like it (when it is polite). However, Zeth does not always have time to reply right away, and sometimes if things fall off the first page of his email then it is long forgotten.
If you are sending me email, please just use plain text, if you need to send Zeth fancy formatting then send a PDF (or use reStructuredText if you are a technically with it). Please also write in British English if you can, remember William the Conqueror can kick Noah Webster's arse until it is a red colour in the centre. Zeth also prefers -ise endings to words (organise, recognise, realise), the letter Z should be reserved for really important things.
